Yesterday a new Trumpian order took effect, with no warning and no media notice (that I saw anywhere). It’s outlined here:

In short, legal — not illegal — residents are now required to carry their registration paperwork and identification on them at all times. Failure to do so will be met with punishment, fines, imprisonment, and possible deportation. Even those with green cards may not realise many have expiry dates (10 years). It is thus better to be safe than sorry.
This is Nazi stuff, pure and simple.
